For My Mentor And Constant Muse
Theodore Adams, Doctor Of Sociology

Is A Program For Anyone Over 55 Years Old Who Meets The Financial Requirements.
It Provides Paid Job Training.

Employment Training-Older Worker Program-SCSEP
Frequently Asked Questions

Program Description
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a community service and work based training program for older workers. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides subsidized, service-based training for low-income persons 55 or older who are unemployed and have poor employment prospects.

Participants have access to both SCSEP services and other employment assistance usually found through your local Unemployment Office Vocational Rehabilitation Dept

For Further Information regarding SCSEP programs in your area contact your local One-Stop Career Center through the Toll-Free Help Line at 1-877-US2-JOBS (1-877-872-5627)

State Vocational Rehabilitation Agency
Coordinates and provides counseling, evaluation, and job placement services for people with disabilities.
State Vocational Rehabilitation Agency

Goal: SCSEP provides both community services and work-based training. Participants work an average of 20 hours a week, and are paid the highest of federal, state or local minimum wage. They are placed in a wide variety of community service activities at non-profit and public facilities, including day-care centers, senior centers, schools and hospitals.

It is intended that community service training serves as a bridge to unsubsidized employment opportunities; SCSEP's goal is to place 30% of its authorized positions into unsubsidized employment annually.

Pass Plan And Ticket To Work
Are For Those Already On Regular type Social Security, SSI And Or SSDI Who Feel That They Are Able To Return To Work, Full or Part Time, And Need Training And Supplies.

There is no penalty for failing!
Anyone who tries Pass Plan And Ticket To Work And After Time Is Not Successful in their work goals. No penalty at all! I got my computer from this program. btw I failed! But I got my computer and a desk chair and some clothes before I did.

The Pass Plan Also Offers Assistance For All Social Security Participants Who Want To Start A Small Business of their own.

Pass Plan
Plan for Achieving Self-Support-Form SSA-545
Don't fall for that employment network who wants $400.00 to do your pass plan application.

Although if you want to start your own business. You may need help to create your business plan, maybe not. Pass gives you the instructions how to do that too.
It's a simple application, won't take more than a couple of hours to do. Pace yourself, do a little whenever you have time and soon it will be completed. Don't try to do it all at one time.

You can fill it out by hand. Print, in black ink, neatly. Will be fine.
I was told by my person who handles my case that "they want people to be approved and succeed so they will work with the client in order to get their plan approved".

In other words, if you fill out the application completely and correctly and there are any issues they need to work out. They will ask you more questions and you can reply from there.

You all come to a conclusion about what you get together. You don't need an Employment Network to fill out the form, or know just what to do or say.

Just fill it out as best you can, the Pass Program will contact you if it needs to be amended. Don't pay Four Hundred Dollars out of your SSI check, even if they say oh, it's just small monthly installments.
Never pay for services. Anyone who wants money is in business. You don't need to buy this service. Real easy to do yourself, or with a friend's help. You could type it up if you know how. Still easy. I did mine myself, and I sure didn't know much about what I was doing. I just answered the questions to the best of my ability.

What is the Ticket To Work Program?
The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program is an employment program for people with disabilities who are interested in going to work. Ticket To Work

The Ticket Program is part of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999, legislation designed to remove many of the barriers that previously influenced people’s decisions about going to work because of the concerns over losing health care coverage.

The goal of the Ticket Program is to increase opportunities and choices for Social Security disability beneficiaries to obtain employment, vocational rehabilitation (VR), and other support services from public and private providers, employers, and other organizations.

A Comment By Kossack grover
I *adore* MSF
They go where few will, provide what is necessary; stay as long as they are absolutely needed (in many cases, decades) set up clinics and local personnel to take over, then move on.
It's the classic example of teaching a man how to fish...

And they speak the truth about what they see. They're beholden to no government (all private donations), so they have more freedom to move and to speak out in the most dangerous places on earth!

The major focus of Greater Newark Conservancy's Job Training Program is the Newark Youth Leadership Project (NYLP).

The NYLP is a year round job and leadership training program which provides Newark, NJ high school and college youth with job training experience, leadership development, and exposure to different career options in environmental and horticultural fields and opportunities for pursuing a college education.

In addition, job training interns are given the chance to participate in outdoor horticultural activities that they would probably never experience otherwise. Through this program the Conservancy seeks to improve conditions in the urban community by increasing employability and earning potential. The year round NYLP has now been in operation for over ten years and has had hundreds Newark youth participants.

The DREAM Act-We Won't Give Up! [Update 12/20/10] Dream Act Not Passed!

Adopt A Bubbe Or Zayde

We provide food, medicine, bed linens, clothing, eyeglasses, hearing aids, utility payments, and other items for those unable to exist on their pensions. Since the break up of the Soviet Union in 1991 with the resulting hyperinflation, pensions have become almost worthless. At the same time, food, clothing, medicine and apartments are no longer subsidized by the government, and the prices for these have risen beyond the reach of most pensioners.

Dream Act Not Passed
Dream Act isn't to be for immigrants like Bernard Pastor
Hardly a sound could be heard from the gallery when the legislation failed, but when the students gathered in a room in the Capitol Visitor Center afterward, the tears began to flow.
Pastor was asked to lead the group in prayer. "We need not worry about what can happen today or tomorrow," said the devout, Guatemala-born Pastor, who wants to follow in his father's footsteps and be a minister. "Our day of joy is coming soon."
Then, together, the young people from all over the country who are without a country recited the Pledge of Allegiance

This bill would provide certain inadmissible or deportable alien students who graduate from US high schools, who are of good moral character, arrived in the U.S. as minors, and have been in the country continuously for at least five years prior to the bill's enactment, the opportunity to earn conditional permanent residency.

The alien students would obtain temporary residency for a six year period. Within the six year period, a qualified student must have "acquired a degree from an institution of higher education in the United States or [have] completed at least 2 years, in good standing, in a program for a bachelor's degree or higher degree in the United States," or have "served in the uniformed services for at least 2 years and, if discharged, [have] received an honorable discharge."
