The Chernobyl disaster was a nuclear accident that occurred on 26 April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Ukrainian SSR (now Ukraine). An explosion and fire released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere, which spread over much of Western Russia and Europe

Since its establishment in 1991,Chernobyl Children’s Project International has delivered over €76 million in direct and indirect humanitarian aid to restore hope to the people of the Chernobyl-affected region.
We continue to deliver relevant projects and programmes by maintaining strong links with many international and Belarusian agencies and organisations and by then adapting and changing the work that we do according to the changing needs of the children, the adults and the communities we work with. This process of ongoing communication informs all of the work we do and allows us to closely monitor and evaluate our programme and project delivery.
